Deco Studios, trading as DECO. (“DECO.”, “we”, “us” or “our”), respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and other applicable South African law.

Who is responsible for your information

Deco Studios is the responsible party for personal information collected through decostudios.co.za and our customer communications. Privacy enquiries and requests can be sent to info@decostudios.co.za.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the store, we may collect:

• your name, email address, telephone number and delivery address;
• order and transaction information, including products purchased, order history and payment status;
• communications, support requests, reviews and photographs relating to an order;
• technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser, device, cookies and website interactions; and
• marketing preferences and subscription status.

Payment-card details are processed by our payment providers. We do not ordinarily receive or store your full card number.

Why we use personal information

• to accept, produce, deliver and support orders;
• to process payments, refunds, discounts and fraud checks;
• to communicate about orders, enquiries and service updates;
• to operate, secure and improve our website and customer experience;
• to meet accounting, tax, legal and regulatory obligations; and

When we share information

We share only what is reasonably necessary with service providers that help us operate the store, including Shopify, payment processors, printers and framers, couriers, email platforms, analytics providers, professional advisers and fraud-prevention services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect legal rights, or in connection with a lawful business transfer.

Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use recipients and safeguards that provide an appropriate level of protection.

Cookies

Cookies help the store remember your cart, operate checkout, keep the site secure, understand performance and, where permitted, measure marketing. Browser controls can block or delete cookies, but essential store functions may then stop working correctly.

Marketing

If you join the email list, we use your email address to send DECO. news and offers. You can unsubscribe through any marketing email or contact us. Service messages about an order are not marketing messages.

Retention and security

We retain information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, dispute and fraud-prevention requirements. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a security compromise affects personal information, we will act and notify the Information Regulator and affected people where required.

Your rights

Subject to POPIA and applicable limitations, you may ask whether we hold your information, request access or correction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, request deletion where appropriate, or complain about our processing. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

The store is intended for customers who can lawfully enter into a purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate authorisation.
